Kids are mostly very resilient.

Kids have been let down by adults - we've tried to give them too much, we've tried not to impose discipline. We've tried to make their lives easier and, in doing so, we've taken something away from them. Kids like boundaries, they also like to be pushed, need to learn what failure is all about, need guidance.

Kids need role models, whether it's baseball players, actors or musicians: people to bring a little positive light into their hearts and minds. We need to be a little kinder to those people because it's not easy being that role model, looked upon as something we are all incapable of being - too perfect.

I want to be a role model and I want to show kids that you can be strong and overcome adversity.

The reason most of the children are having problems in any inner-city neighborhood is because they don't see enough positive role models in their own environment.

Kids need stuff which is different than what their life is that they can kind of live through.

With the right help, children have a good chance of overcoming their issues while they are still young and can have the bright future they deserve.
