I do have to step out and take time to let people know that I'm Ronnie Dunn and not Brooks and Dunn.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I feel like I am campaigning door to door. You just can't step out of a band like Brooks & Dunn and assume that it is just going to be business as usual. You have to work it. It does feel like a campaign where you would have Obama, Romney, or Newt beating the bushes right now. That's what I'm having to do.
My thing is, and I've always been this way - to get to know as many people as I possibly can on a personal level, so that way, when you get on the football field, you've got your buddy right beside you, and you're ready to go.
The three people I've always wanted to meet are Stephen Fry, Billy Connolly and Steven Gerrard.
I don't go around thinking I'm Ray Bradbury all the time.
Mr. Brooks and I have been friends forever. He is in seventh heaven with his new success on Broadway.
Sometimes it takes a while to find that perfect balance between knowing who you are, what your sound is, and building the right team to make that happen. Once it all really comes together and it makes sense, both for the audience and your fans, there's no stopping you.
Plus I am being hounded by all the fabulous new drummers, Bill Stewart at the head of the pack.
Everything just fell into place with Ronnie and me. We completed each other.
My music comes from country music. Merle Haggard is God, and I do believe that. I'm not too tuned in to country music. I don't know who Brooks and Dunn are. I like Shania Twain, though!
They wanted me to play third like Brooks so I did play like Brooks - Mel Brooks.
