Art is something that opens up and enhances your emotions and that's what I like to think I'm doing.

I make my films because I'm affected by a situation, by something that makes me want to reflect on it, that lends itself to an artistic reflection. I always aim to look directly at what I'm dealing with. I think it's a task of dramatic art to confront us with things that in the entertainment industry are usually swept under the rug.

As a filmmaker, like any artist, when something affects me emotionally I think about it in those terms. It's my way of dealing with my thoughts, my fears and my hardships. I think the same can be said with any artist. For a musician, you're going to write a song about something that affects you emotionally.

For me, art has to have two things to really blow me away: a strong concept and drama.

For me, visuals are as important as the music. I just love escapism and giving people something to escape to. To me, that's what art is.

For me, I see filmmaking as art.

I try to combine in my paintings cinematic feeling, emotional feeling, and sometimes actually writing on the page to combine all the different elements of communication.

What interests me most is when a work of art is no longer just an object, but also touches reality and life.

My whole career I've been interested by the distinction between an emotional and an intellectual response to an artwork.

I value above all the ability of art to move me emotionally and psychically, without answers. I make art that makes me question, that derives its power from being vulnerable to interpretation, that is intuitive, that is beautiful.
