There is kind of an underground conservative movement in Hollywood, really.

Being a conservative in Hollywood is like walking into a shooting range with a bull's-eye attached to your body. There are more of us than you would believe, but if you want to keep working, you feel like you have to keep quiet.

People who know me know that I'm always interested in an honest, civil exchange of views, and I'm not some Hollywood liberal know-nothing.

There are a lot of conservative people, a lot of moderate people, Republicans, Democrats, in Hollywood. It is just that the conservative people by the nature of the word itself play closer to the vest. They do not go around hot dogging it.

I don't live in Hollywood. I don't have celebrities as friends. I like them, but I don't pal around with them. I just live in the Midwest, a real normal world.

I haven't always been warmly welcomed for holding my conservative positions in Hollywood. Then again, I've never been very good at being politically correct either, on or off screen. So why start now?

There are some kids I grew up with whose parents are in the industry, but my friends that I hang out with day-to-day aren't Hollywood.

Just as many people flee Hollywood as those who flock to it. Hollywood can be an acquired taste.

I don't consider myself a Hollywood liberal, but I have my convictions and my beliefs.

As much as my parents are part of Hollywood, I have no recollection of them giving me advice about it.
