I really love nature. I grew up in the country. But one of the things about nature is that it is beautiful but it's also very dangerous.

I talk to children in schools all over the world, and I've found that both boys and girls are fascinated by how hunter-gatherers manage to survive entirely on what's around them in their environment: trees, rocks, animals and plants.

I am attached to the west coast of Scotland - it's gorgeous to look at and challenging. You have to contend with the possibility of being blown away or rained on. And in the summer months you can be eaten alive by midges.

I travel all over the country speaking to young people, and I am always amazed at how engaged in environmental conservation they are.
