When I'm writing a record, I kind of don't listen to much music. Just because I want to be inspired solely on the emotion; just based on how it feels.

I think that creative work, music in particular, is a conveyor of inner emotional life. I don't feel one way all the time, so I don't want my music to feel the same way all the time.

That's exactly why I came into music in the first place: to be inspired by what I hear to make it something else, to make it my own. That's how culture, creativity, moves, isn't it?

Your own music comes out of your head and emotions, but it's not etched in your system.

Emotions are the fuel to really move you along - that's the only way you can create music. If you don't feel any emotions, it's not going to happen.

I put my emotions in my music and I want people to relate to that.

People can be inspired the way I've been inspired by music.

My music is inspired by my life: the people in my life, the people I have relationships with, the people I love, the people that make me feel something.

I want to make people feel certain ways when they listen to my music. Whether it's partying or going through relationship problems or grinding or getting dressed and feeling fly. I want to be who I am and have emotion in my music that affects people.

I've always made music from the heart, and that's what I do.
