America's men and women in uniform bravely defend our nation and our values. Their skill, dedication, and valor are the envy of the world. When their time in uniform is over, they are entitled to world-class health care, a benefit they've earned and that their country is grateful to provide for them.

When you think about those of us that live the life that we want to live, we can thank absolutely and completely our men and women in uniform. Because if it were not for them, we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms that we have.

Our men and women in uniform are owed the right to protect themselves and others while in service of our country.

We are so appreciative of the men and women in uniform who are protecting us, whether in Afghanistan or Iraq or on ships around the world. For our security, they are taking the offensive to the terrorists overseas.

We have a sacred obligation to support our men and women in uniform.

We are today, in this country, convulsed by the situation in Iraq. It is an extraordinary crisis. It is taxing our men and women in uniform, and it is certainly taxing our resolve.

When we ask American men and women in uniform to fight for this country and to defend this country's interest and then to send them overseas, there is no question we have an obligation to protect them and provide for their safety.

The comforting news for every American is that our men and women in uniform, and every Marine, is as good today as any in our history.

Our men and women in uniform put their lives on the line for our nation every day; they should not have to jeopardize their financial well-being as well.

I will never apologize for standing up for my fellow Teamsters and all American workers.
