Anytime you can be a part of something that hopefully tries to make a cultural contribution, I love the idea of that.

I like making films about different cultures. I'm interested in things that I've never encountered before. I try to put myself in the audience's position.

There are lots of stories about my culture that I think bring a whole other perspective to who we are and where we have been and how we got here that I think need to be done.

You have to work at creating your own culture.

I would love to be able to see as much of the world as possible, and volunteering, doing things in another community, living with a host family, are really effective ways to learn about cultures different from your own. And also to not feel lazy.

I have made sense of my life by developing an ability to analyze Mainstream American Cultural Artifacts.

I write on sacred stories, symbols and rituals of all cultures - European, American and Chinese - but my audiences, typically, like me to focus on India.

A culture produces ideas which are being explored, which of interest to that culture at that moment. And I think one of the things a writer can do is to take those ideas and go a bit further with them.
