I am not convinced that the U.S. is more religious than Britain. Even if more people go to church in America, I think the U.S. is a much more secular country than Britain.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
The British, I have discovered, assume that Americans are more religious than they are.
Notoriously, the United States is the most religious of the Western advanced nations. It's a bit mysterious why that is.
In Britain, we are not a secular state as France is, or some other countries.
It could fairly be said that the U.S. is increasingly out of step with the rest of the world. As our neighbors to the south elect left-wing or even socialist governments, we are lurching further to the right. As Europe becomes less engaged to the Church, we are becoming more fundamentalist.
I think that America is a nation of faith. I do believe that. Certainly by way of heritage - there's a powerful Christian thread through all of American history.
Perhaps Europeans are a bit more skeptic whereas Americans are more believers.
There's no question that there is more anti-religion noise in Britain.
Being religious is quintessentially American.
The U.S. is off the spectrum in religious commitment.
America is an unusually religious nation.
