I came to Hollywood and felt myself an outsider, and I was sent all these action thrillers and superhero scripts.

Growing up, I was on film sets occasionally, when my dad was acting, so I got to run around and do odd jobs on films like 'Labyrinth' and others... I seemed destined to make films.

Every film that I have done has a special place in my heart.

I don't necessarily see myself as an experienced filmmaker just because I've been in a few movies.

I always loved watching movies because I loved what certain moments inside of films did to me.

I always felt an outsider.

Film for me became how I related to everything else.

I don't know if I was so much of an outsider until after I started doing films. That put me on the outside. I grew up in Texas, and I wasn't the child of industry parents, and I didn't have a lot of friends in the industry or anything like that.

I was able to make many different kinds of movies. They enriched me on many different levels.
