Either you write songs or you don't. And if you do write songs like I do, I think there's a natural desire to want to make records.

I have a recording that I did of instrumental songs.

I may not be able to re-record a song, but I can do a better job each time I sing it.

I'm not a slave to the recording industry. I have the freedom to make an album that I want to make and do it the way I want.

I don't use composers. I research music the way I research the photographs or the facts in my scripts.

The best way to do that is to pick up a new instrument or an instrument that you don't typically write on and see where it takes you. Whether it's using an acoustic guitar, or piano, or electronics as tools, all of these lead to creating different types of songs and I used all of these methods for this record.

If you can use a search engine, you can find any piece of music that's been recorded for free. I'm not saying that's right, but it's a fact, and I'm surprised that more people don't accept or acknowledge that and try to adapt in some way.

I always try to write a song, I never just want to write a record.
