Back in the day when I started on the independent scene, guys would not watch women's matches, and if they did, they would do it to make fun of us.

Women get the attention when we get into the men's arena, and that's sad.

There's still prejudice and that resistance regarding women, not only on female football but in various activities. Men think that women are a bit fragile to perform some types of activities or don't have the ability and aren't strong enough.

I think a lot of us women feel like we deserve to play on the big courts in front of a big crowd as well.

I never really felt I had the same respect as my male team-mates. My opinion wasn't worth as much. I used to sit quietly in meetings and not say anything, as I knew my opinions would be disregarded. And that's after I had become Olympic champion and multiple world champion.

I have a great deal of respect for any women that will enter the world of little boys of sports.

When the Olympics and World Cups come around, that's when you see the real outpouring of support that there really is for female football.

A lot of women will be sort of 'competitive like a guy' in the workplace, but then when they go home, they realize that's not fully authentic for them. They would like to have a more expansive or more authentic relationship in the workplace around competition.
