Musical theater is great; you get painted up, you get to play princesses and witches, and you sing. The joy alone of that can really carry a lot.

In many ways, theatre is more rewarding for a writer. I used to think it was like painting a wall - that when the play is finished, it's done - but now I realise it's more like gardening; you plant the thing, then you have to constantly tend it. You're part of a thing that's living.

I have always been interested in theater, as an actor and as someone who looks upon theater - at the risk of sounding pretentious - as an icon by which we measure society... My life has been in the theater to an extent. It's only an extension to write, direct, produce, whatever.

It's true: theatre has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I always liked everything about it. As a child, I used to get so excited about performing, I'd get the giggles.

The truth is I love musical theater and always have.

I am in musical theatre, but it isn't necessarily what I listen to in my leisure time, do you know what I mean?

Musical theater is often seen as a lesser form of acting, although I don't see it that way.

It really is individual for everyone, but for me, theater is where I learn and grow, and that is always a good thing.
