I chose films made by people I wanted to work with, about subject matter I thought was intriguing.

Film is something I've always loved since I was very young. In fact, I actually wanted to study to be a filmmaker when I was younger.

Then in college I became obsessed with film, and wanted to be part of that.

I got into film-making because I was interested in making entertaining movies, which I felt there was a lack of.

Film for me became how I related to everything else.

I always liked film as a teaching tool - a way of getting exposed to ideas that had never been presented to me. It just wasn't on the list of career options where I grew up.

I'm a student of the movies. I'm a student of all media. This is what I do, and I like to immerse myself in what's current and what's topical. And I find that I'm drawn to those things.

Then I became interested in drama, and almost by accident, I drifted into film.

Growing up, I just loved movies. It was how I saw the world, which I wanted to learn more about.

Film has the potential of allowing me to explore my own ideas, which I find very attractive.
