I think it's really great to be able to stick with a character for a long period of time. It's not like you have one shot, and that's it.

You don't want to play a character you can't inhabit or commit to fully.

You can't play forever.

You don't want a character who sits on an even playing field the whole time.

As long as you have the acting chops and the desire to get inside a character, you can play anything.

There has to be something that I like about a character for me to be able to play him.

Getting in and out of a character takes its own time for me.

A long-running TV series is a beast in that it demands you stick to one character over a long haul.

You can't take a character anywhere they don't expect the character to go. But within those confines is where creativity lies.
