The problem with dragons is that everyone uses them. All the time. When that happens, they become commonplace. A lot of people think you can just throw them into a story and suddenly whatever you're writing is 28% cooler. But that doesn't work. All that does is make dragons into some boring cliche.

I'm a huge 'Game of Thrones' fan.

I couldn't enjoy 'A Dance With Dragons,' unfortunately. Of course, I enjoyed it, but it was the first of the books I read as a writer on 'Game of Thrones,' so all I could do is think, 'We're going to have to shift that,' 'We won't be able to afford that,' or 'That's a great scene.'

'Game of Thrones' is so unique, and the odds that any of us involved will be in another show like it are very slim, so I'm enjoying the ride.

I don't think there's any show comparable to 'Game of Thrones' in terms of the way it does the fantasy element to such a high standard: everything is created with so much care and detail. You really feel like you are transported into this entirely other fictional place.

I'm hooked on 'Game of Thrones.' I'm a fan of the books and the show.

The fans of 'Game of Thrones' are dedicated. It's really nice to talk to them, why they love the show and what it means to them. It's a real pleasure.
