I've always made music from the heart, and that's what I do.

I'm just basically trying to make music that feels good. Right now in the music industry there's a real lack of intimacy. You don't really connect with the artist as much anymore, and you don't really understand where they are. I'm basically doing music that illustrates who I am and where I am in my life.

Any song I do, I put my heart and soul into and, as an artist, you can only hope it makes other people feel the way you feel when making it.

The truth is I want to make music that people enjoy.

I get into a zone where I'm really in my own world when I make music.

If you like my music, great, and if you don't, whatever. I'm going to keep making it either way.

I like to focus on making the music sound simple and true, and very lush and full. I think music should take you to somewhere else where you have the space to contemplate or exercise your imagination. All the while you should be feeling real good, like when you have a delicious and decadent meal, macaroni and cheese or foie gras.

I don't write anything down - it comes from my head and my soul and my heart and my pain. That allows me to make the best music I can make.

The way that I've always gone about making music, the rule of thumb, has just been to make what I love.
