From what I hear, everyone who does a Marvel movie gets a three-picture deal. I'll be Sam Jackson's stand-in. I'll do eight pictures for Marvel, and then I'll just do indies. Marvel can pay for my indie career.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
I make a lot more off the trades and Image than Marvel.
I love to watch low-budget indie artsy films, but I do also love the big blockbuster things. I would love to do that one day, do a Marvel film. That would be really great.
I personally have not spoken to Marvel and have no plans to do a movie in the immediate future because, number one, I'm tied up with 'Somnia,' which is a fantastic place to be. It's exactly where I wanted to be.
As a fan, I want all of the Marvel TV projects to be successful. I am a comic book fan.
Everybody wants to be in the next Marvel movie.
With comics, you don't have to worry so much about budgetary constraints. In film and television, however fanciful you want to be, someone can come up to you and go, 'Okay, this is going to cost X amount of dollars, and we only have so many days to film this.' With graphic novels, you can have that alien invasion you've always wanted to see.
We like to make the Marvel comics films because they're fun. Families can go see them together. They're entertaining. They aspire to inspire, and that is cool.
If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing. I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do.
I'm not going to head off and do a Marvel film. So if I don't do a Marvel film, I don't have any other choice - I've got to go make a small New Zealand movie!
I'm still waiting for my first big Hollywood paycheck... maybe I'll play a superhero.
