I know I have the ability to do so much more than just stand in front of the camera the rest of my life.

I had been teaching myself photography.

But slowly I began to use cameras and then think about what it was that was going on. It took me a long time, I mean I actually played with cameras and photography for about 20 years.

For a period of time, I carried cameras with me wherever I went, and then I realized that my interest in photography was turning toward the conceptual. So I wasn't carrying around cameras shooting stuff, I was developing concepts about what I wanted to shoot. And then I'd get the camera angle and do the job.

I started out making skateboard videos. Soon, it dawned on me I just wasn't that great at skateboarding. So I put down the skateboard and just kept going with the camera.

I've been working with photography for many years.

I don't know if I always want to be in front of the camera. I love producing, I love the camaraderie. I love the adventures. I love the stress.

It took me a long time to get comfortable with the idea of being photographed by a moving or still camera.

I'm always taking pictures and travelling with a camera and have so many photos that I've done a book.

I knew from the first moment I picked up a camera, on my first school assignment, what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was going to find a way to travel the world and tell the stories of the people I met through photographs.
