I love to hear about ordinary people's lives and interests and what motivates them.

I suppose I am interested in the variety of human life - how people live. I am most interested in individuals and how they respond to challenges or to difficulties or just to each other. I am curious about people.

I look at life, the experiences I've had, at the human condition, the dynamics between people, the news (world news), and draw from the compelling realities all around us.

What I find so interesting about people is the choices they make, and how that effects their behavior, their sense of self and their relationships.

Mostly I'm writing about people, so I feel constrained to take with me my view of people, my curiosity about how people choose the things they do and why they come to certain decisions in a certain fashion and all the things that drive most writers.

I'm very interested in the way people interact emotionally.

If you're in the media, particularly newspapers, you are in the thick of all the interesting things that are going on in a community, and I can't imagine any other life that one would want to dedicate oneself to.

My motivation is to get a deeper understanding and exploration of something that I want to know about the human condition. So, that's what I look for in the material I read: if it's asking a genuine question about a concept of the world that interests me. And also, it helps if it's a context that I find interesting.

I like examining the ordinary, and by doing so, one hopefully reveals the extraordinary nature within.

I'm insatiably curious about human nature. I feel very lucky that as a writer I get to learn so much about it just to do my job right.
