I wound up through a wild set of circumstances getting into coaching. I went in and volunteered with Don Coryell, who was a big part of my past, great coach. A lot of people say he was one of the greatest coaches ever. He was very good in high school, college and pro. Another guy on that staff was named John Madden.

Throughout my career, I was blessed with great teams and great teammates.

I've been so fortunate in life to have worked for such great organizations, with great owners and general managers and all the great players, along with the support of my family.

I believe this with all my heart: The greatest coach of all time in my eyes is my mom. She's instilled in me a toughness and a perseverance and just a never-quit mentality, and I thank her every day for providing me, for what she sacrificed her life for.

I feel like I've been very blessed to have some great mentors through the years, starting with Don James, who was my college coach, who really inspired me to want to be a coach, which is not something that I really had in mind.

I have been tremendously impacted and influenced by my coaches. It's nice to play for people that are going to support you.

I've always been privileged to play for Coach Belichick, who I've always said is the best coach in the history of the league.

I enjoyed coaching so much that I just have to stay with it. Don Coryell - I love him, and I think he was a great coach - but I hear he's going to build a house on some island. He's going to divorce himself from football, and that's a mystery to me.

I had a tremendous one season playing for Coach Kubiak, and I have nothing but great things to say about him as a person and a coach.

I've been real fortunate to be on a lot of great teams.
