There are great characters on television.

A lot of times characters are combinations of people I come across in life. I people-watch a lot.

Between New York and L.A., and all of us who are actors, I feel like we're just one big, cast repertory company, all running back and forth between the coasts and between different shows. There is a wealth of great character actors, who show up, here and there, on different shows. I love the fact that we're allowed to do that.

You get pigeonholed. Some people are film stars, and some are theatre stars who do one-off telly. Somehow, I get into long-running series.

But I do believe that in all my shows, I really enjoy the quirky, the eccentric characters, the ones you don't meet every day.
