Love is one of my main inspirations.

The theme for me is love and the lack of it. We all want that and we don't know how to get it, and everything we do is some kind of attempt to capture it for ourselves.

Frustrated love has been the incentive for many great works.

Pick a theme and work it to exhaustion... the subject must be something you truly love or truly hate.

We write in ways that, we generally hope, reflect real life, or at least look familiar to humans. And in life, recurring themes are a recurring theme. We never quite conquer a pet vice or a relationship pattern or a communication habit. We're haunted by our particular demons.

As an improviser, my nature is to take a theme and constantly rework it.

My inspiration is love and history.

Maybe a theme that touches all of my work is people reinventing themselves.

I love the way you can fall in love with a piece of literature; how words alone can get your heart doing that.

The art of love is largely the art of persistence.
