We take a lot of care with lyrics because we don't want to offend anybody.

Unfortunately, we are living in an era where plenty of songs with vulgar, objectionable lyrics are also becoming popular. It's a disturbing trend, and I feel really sad when I see small kids dancing to such numbers in television shows. In my career so far, I have refused any song whose lyrics I haven't been comfortable with.

I've gotten to a point where I don't want lyrics to mean anything.

Writing songs is a profession; so it's not an attempt to take things from my interactions with other people and for some reason give them to a total stranger to listen to. I find it offensive to hear other people do that.

I don't like to get too specific about lyrics. It places limitations on them, and spoils the listeners' interpretation.

No matter how I do this, my best songs have profanity in them.

All labels are offensive in some way.

A lot of my lyrics are approximate meaning without me knowing why they sound right.

I don't really care about a song or lyrics; I'm really just interested in the way people emphasize words. That's what makes a strong impact on me.

Nothing in my songs is disrespective.
