Also, since art is a vehicle for the transmission of ideas through form, the reproduction of the form only reinforces the concept. It is the idea that is being reproduced. Anyone who understands the work of art owns it. We all own the Mona Lisa.

You can turn something into art just because of the way you tell people to look at it.

Is the Mona Lisa an 'accurate' representation of the actual human model for the painting? Who knows? Who cares? It's a great piece of art. It moves us. It makes us wonder, makes us gape - finally makes us look inward at ourselves.

We're all going about trying to make beauty in the world and trying to make order out of chaos. And that's what art is.

Painting will have to deal more fully and less obliquely with life and nature's phenomena before it can again become great.

Mona Lisa looks as if she has just been sick, or is about to be.
