How would you compare Polanski or Kubrick? I try not to do any comparisons.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Stanley Kubrick is one of the geniuses of this century.
I like David Lynch; I like Stanley Kubrick. I'm a big fan of Kubrick.
In the past, I'll admit, I've enjoyed being compared to the protagonists in my screenplays.
Books and people are hard to compare.
Stanley Kubrick was a big inspiration. People accuse me of never using my own material. But when did Kubrick? You look at his films and they are completely unique... completely separate entities.
The best conversation with Stanley Kubrick is a silent one: you sit in a theatre and watch his films and you learn so much.
I believe movies are better, the less you know going in.
I appreciate both... for me, I think 'Star Wars' is more science fantasy and is based on a lot of great legendary heroes and morality plays and stuff. And 'Star Trek' is just pure fun. Pure science fun. And I've always appreciated both.
Roman Polanski is a man who cares deeply about his art and its place in this world. What happened to him on his incredible path is filled with tragedy, and most men would have collapsed. Instead, he became a great artist and continues to make great films.
The movies were custard compared to politics.
