I am a huge fan of 'Doctor Who.'

Any film, or to me any creative endeavour, no matter who you're working with, is, in many cases, a wonderful experience.

I came to the industry with wide eyes and an open heart thinking I was going to make a few films that really meant something that I could pour myself into.

It seems so long ago that I played the part of the Doctor.

I thought I was going to make bigger films for mass audiences. And I wanted that. I actually had in mind a James-Bondian thriller.

I am perhaps unusual in that I came to 'Doctor Who' through the numerous novelisations and not through the television show.

Sometimes people say to you that you should try to be in a bigger film, but it's the way it pans out.

I came in with a very specific idea about what a Doctor Strange movie should be, which was rooted in the comics, and I thought it should be as weird and as visually ambitious compared to modern comic book movies as the comic was when it showed up in the '60s compared to other comic books at the time.

I love 'Doctor Who.'

The storytelling in 'Doctor Who' is quite universal.
