With rap, it's a funny thing. You can say things, and people can take 'em the way they wanna take 'em.

The problem is that rap is so often a caricature of its own image. Nobody comes to the table with the seriousness of the effect that it can have; nobody is prepared for that.

It's bad poetry executed by people that can't sing. That's my definition of Rap.

Rap is from the streets and I'm from the streets. That's why a lot of people accept me.

When you look at a guy like a Jay-Z or look at a guy like a Nas, you don't necessarily qualify them as conscious rap purely, although they are extremely conscious of the social inequities that prevail.

When I'm rapping, like, a turn up song, I'm thinking about what the people want to hear; this is what they're going to like. When I'm singing, I'm, like, telling my story. I'm not worried if people like it; I'm just trying to be truthful, you know what I'm saying? I'm just talking about something that happened to me.

I'm not really into rap.
