I typically don't get into predicting the success of my projects. I've been involved with a lot of projects that I thought should have really gained notoriety and furthered my career, only to be met with the cold grasp of disappointment. So I typically stay away from predicting how a film will do.

Making a film, every film, is a big gamble, large or small. The more that you do it, the more you're aware of that.

When you're making a movie, you don't think about the outcome. That's something I'm grateful for: whenever I go and do a new project, I never think about the outcome. It's always just about the work at hand. That's the fun part. The other part is always something I've had a struggle with, which is promoting the film. I know it's important.

Usually, with me, the project is always the second thing. The film-maker comes first. Films grow out of the relationship.

When you're shooting a movie that's not necessarily a huge budget, you have to think about what you can leave out and still make it interesting.

To me, it doesn't make any sense to pick your work based on the size of the budget of the movie.

Sometimes people get really sniffy about the films you choose if you've done more dramatic projects or you're classically trained.

You never know how films are going to do and it is daunting if I think about it.

To think one film makes a career is ridiculous. It's important to keep perspective and do things other than for money.

As a filmmaker, you aspire to want to make movies that can hopefully stand the test of time, but you never know when that will happen or if that will happen.
