I look for ambiguity when I'm writing because life is ambiguous.

Life may not always fall into neat chapters, and you may not always get the satisfying ending you're looking for, but sometimes a good explanation is all the rewrite you need.

Usually I'll write all the way through to an end, and then I go back and try to fix the ending so that it makes sense. I don't think out the plot ahead of time.

And in real life endings aren't always neat, whether they're happy endings, or whether they're sad endings.
