The great thing about stage is that you have a live audience.

People are used to us being onstage for a while.

Stage is about imperfections and working with them, whether it be from you or the audience.

You can feel whether an audience is tightened up and pulled back. Of course the opposite is an audience like we've been having in LA, which is fabulous.

People, when they go on stage, tend to be animated and try to force things out instead of relaxing and bringing it in.

When I walk out on stage, I don't know who's in the audience. To me, in my little fat skull, the laugh is just the widest demographic you can get.

The audience, the place you're in, has everything to do with how your performance goes.

As performers grow older, I reckon there are two ways they can go. They can either be up there, playing more deeply from their guts than ever, or they can be phoning it in so crassly that it leaves a lump in your throat as you leave the venue at the end of the show.

I like that because the fans want to see onstage what they know so well from the big screen.
