Music can change the world because it can change people.

Music has always been transnational; people pick up whatever interests them, and certainly a lot of classical music has absorbed influences from all over the world.

A lot of artists get famous overseas first. I don't know what it is here. I have a large underground following in the U.S., but I don't get the airplay as much as I do in, say, Australia. Over there, they can play whatever they like, it seems, but not so much here.

Music is such a great communicator. It breaks down linguistic barriers, cultural barriers, it basically reaches out. That's when rock n' roll succeeds, and that's what virtuosity is all about.

Once you see how powerful music is and how it can affect people, then you want to use it to impact the world.

Once you're in a particular country, and you're surrounded by musicians who are so adept at traditional music, you suddenly realize how much there is to explore and digest and learn and experience.

The music industry has been hijacked by corporate interests, but the way music affects people and resonates with them hasn't changed.

For us music is mainly part of the entertainment world and is often a luxury.

The great musicians are those who can reach people, who can make people feel something.
