My childhood here... was very limited. So it was a long, long time before I actually went out to Brooklyn.

The first time I went to New York, I went with my first boyfriend, Clark. His dad had just bought an apartment in New York, and my dad dropped us off, and we were there for a week on our own. When I was 18, I was moving to New York to start college at The New School. I had done a year of college in Toronto and wasn't happy there. I didn't have any friends in New York City, but I applied and got in. It was pretty overwhelming, but everyone in New York is so ambitious and creative.

I got to New York when I was eighteen. I was knocking around, trying to be an actor, writer, musician, whatever happened.

When I was younger I decided I'd hop on the train to New York.

Living in New York for 10 months was incredible; it was everything I thought it was going to be and more.
