Ever since I did that 57.9 last year, the Americans have been analysing me in detail. You can see on the swimming web pages. They are breaking it down in every detail. How many strokes I take. How quick I am in and out of the wall.

My whole swimming career was about training to beat Michael Phelps in any race I possibly could.

Throughout my career I swam for form. Speed came as a result of it.

It felt good to actually have a decent swim.

After my swims this weekend I think coach realized, you know what, you have to have a good one getting out of this meet. So I put the suit on and had a decent swim.

It has nothing to do with swimming. That happens to be my sport. I'm trying to see how far I can go.

I was really happy with my race, though. I beat my personal best by 1.2 seconds.

I couldn't beat Michael Phelps. A couple of years ago, I was racing against him and it just kinda dawned on me during the race that there was no chance I was gonna beat this guy. And so I said, if you can't beat him, find a race that he won't swim.

I thought I could, and thought I would, swim a lot quicker - much quicker.

I was an avid swimmer and was state champ at age 12.
