I've been around golf my whole life. My father did it all the time, and I resented him for it. But a couple years ago I picked up a golf club and I understood the physics of it. If anyone knows anything about golf, it's that once you hit a few shots, you'll become addicted.

Golf isn't just about hitting a lot of drivers. I grew up playing on my front lawn, chipping and putting into soup cans, out of the ivy and over rose bushes and hedges - the little Alcott Golf and Country Club. I just loved having a wedge in my hands.

Relax? How can anybody relax and play golf? You have to grip the club, don't you?

I never had the opportunity to pick up a golf club in school, and I think it is a cool thing for kids. Getting clubs in kids' hands is the only way to grow this game.

But we do have a golf course near by and I play fairly regularly.
