Many people have the idea that game shows are easy to come up with. And nothing could be further from the truth.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Game shows are designed to make us feel better about the random, useless facts that are all we have left of our education.
Just like every show has a tone, every show has different people on it playing different games. I don't say 'game' in a pejorative sense, I just mean, these are different stories that we tell ourselves when we go to work.
Truth is stranger than fiction, which is why reality TV is so popular.
I believe that even today we can only tell a simple story without really interfering with gameplay. But in the future, I think it will almost be a requirement of all storytellers when they create games, how they can tell a more complex story without conflicting with the gameplay.
I guarantee there's people who watch television who have no idea how complicated it is to make a television show.
Honestly, 'Battlestar' is a truly unique thing, and it's hard for anything to step up to that. There aren't often shows that are as good as that.
But a lot of shows, they pose questions and they give you a puzzle where there's no solution.
Reality shows serve up juicy drama out of human shortcomings.
As a main ingredient to the show, it has to have truth, represent truth, or else it won't last.
At a very basic level, I think television exists for game shows, and I think it always will.
