In my position you have to read when you want to write and to talk when you would like to read.

It always starts with a script. I like to have plenty of time to read something, and I always like to read a paper copy. I hate reading it on email. I sit down with a script, and want to see how it hits me. It's an instinctive process.

I'm a painfully slow reader. And to this day, I mean, I love reading, and I'm very careful - very selective about what I read because I don't read very fast and, therefore, not a great deal.

I try to read for pleasure whenever I can - it's a great way just to shut it off for a while so your brain doesn't get fried.

I want my readers to feel, to think, sometimes to laugh. But most of all I want them to enjoy a good read.

When I write, I tend to read it out loud to myself after. I'm a very uncomfortable reader, so it creates a distance between the text and me - it is a new way to see it.

As a writer, putting words on the page is how I pay attention.

I kind of go in waves with reading. Sometimes I read all the time, and sometimes I can't get settled enough to focus.
