I love singing fun songs; I've built a career on them.

I like what it is to sing, or to be with the others singing, to make music, but the fuss and all the things that are the exterior part of a career, has never interested me.

My aspirations aren't to sell millions of records, but to write really good songs.

Well, over the years, I've developed a stable of songs of which I'm known for and never get tired of singing.

I'm an entertainer, period. But I'd probably have to say my passion is in singing. I'm willing to go broke singing.

I prefer career artists that have spent time honing their craft, as opposed to, 'I won a karaoke contest on a reality show and now I have a record.' That's such a drag. The music that comes out of it is so poor.

I really sing songs that move me. I'm not in show business. I'm in the communications business. That's what it's for me.

I don't try to write songs that will further my career. I write about things that I care about. I don't have a career as much as I'm having an adventure with a guitar. I never liked the business way of doing it. You have to follow some sort of instinct.

There are a lot of unseen elements to having a successful singing career.

There has always been a feeling with people that they love my singing but not always the choice of material.
