Many people are afraid to talk about race because it's so emotionally loaded. We don't have the vocabulary to talk about it. Every day, our vocabulary seems more and more inadequate.

As I moved to less and less diverse places in my life, I realized that white people don't talk about race amongst themselves!

Though race-related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion, and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we, average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about things racial.

We are not post-racial. And in many ways we don't even know how to have a conversation about being post-racial. White Americans have the option of not having to think about race on a daily basis. People of color don't. Race is a major deciding factor in their lives and the histories of their families.

I do wish that people talked about the subject of race, especially in the South.

You cannot talk about race without talking about privilege. And when people start talking about privilege, they get paralyzed by shame.

I never though much about race.

Only white men have the luxury of ignoring race.
