My whole career has been trying to please people in basketball. Now it's time to please myself.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
It's a heavy duty to try to do everything and please everybody. My job was to go out there and play the game of basketball as best I can and provide entertainment for everyone who wanted to watch basketball. Obviously, people may not agree with that; again, I can't live with what everyone's impression of what I should or what I shouldn't do.
I'm a basketball freak.
People who understand basketball definitely appreciate what I bring to the table.
I am, first of all, a basketball player. I've done this for so very long... For me, it's been essential to be successful on the court.
I love the game of basketball, and as long as I can do that, keep playing and try to get some more championships with the organization, I'll be happy.
I want to thank God, obviously for the health, for the talent He's given me, for my family who supports me, for the things that basketball's taught me on and off the court. For the people that I've been able to meet through the game of basketball.
Basketball is one of those rare opportunities where you can make a difference, not only for yourself, but for other people as well.
I want to be an NBA all-star and help my team win. That's what it's all about, is winning. I'm a competitor... People said a lot about me being selfish and stuff like that. Getting into the league, I can't wait to shut that down. I'm a guy who wants to play and to win and love my teammates.
Everybody in the NBA works on their game. I just tried to follow that lead when I was in high school, college - and now.
The first thing is to love your sport. Never do it to please someone else. It has to be yours.
