Writers are in the entertainment business, and it gives me lots of pleasure to entertain my readers.

My purpose is to entertain and please myself. I feel that if I am entertained, then there will be enough other readers who will be entertained, too.

Well, it's a humor strip, so my first responsibility has always been to entertain the reader... But if, in addition, I can help move readers to thought and judgment about issues that concern me, so much the better.

One of my biggest goals, especially with writing YA novels, is just to have people enjoy reading.

Reading takes me to a different place than my everyday life. I usually get fully involved in what I'm reading about, so it's a great escape.

I get to show the reader the essence of the book without giving anything away.
