The cool thing about my show and me is that I'm a writer, and I'm a writer first if I don't have music.

My focus is trying to make great music and putting on great shows, and whatever happens beyond that is a bonus to me.

Main thing, really, is I write songs the way I wanna hear them and the way I think the people that come to our shows wanna hear them.

I've always been a fan of just writing songs and making music.

If it's a whole show of my own, I'll do more of what I think Del Shannon is. But for shows like Disneyland, I'll just do mainly hits. That's what they want to hear. I don't want to bore people. If I wanted that much to play nothing but 12 new songs, then I should go do it in a bar somewhere for peanuts.

My main thing is I'm gonna go out there every night and give it all I got and just try to put on the best show I can. That's just the way I'm programmed and wired.

I have a very lively and colourful show. It's two hours of hits and the music speaks for itself.

On various shows, I've been the producing-director, the executive producer-director; and if you were working with the material you love with the right group of people, it's an incredible job to be doing.

As a writer, it's fun to create. And once you get into a long-running show with very established characters and a very established tone and format, after a while it's a really great job, but that's what it is - a job.
