In this world there is always danger for those who are afraid of it.

A world is in danger, this planet is in great danger!

Every day as Chancellor I see alerts telling me of risks around the world.

We assume in our daily lives that the world is both safe and sane. Otherwise, we could not carry on.

The world has just got more dangerous because the things we use have got more dangerous.

Prior to September 11, we thought the world beyond our shores was one world of risk and the world in our continent was another world of risk.

For while the threat of nuclear holocaust has been significantly reduced, the world remains a very unsettled and dangerous place.
