I always hated to throw a guy out of a game but sometimes it was necessary to keep order.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Throwaways are OK. When a quarterback throws the ball away in our system, that's a plus. That's a plus decision. That's the way I've always graded it.
Guys don't like girls that throw themselves at them. That's something that I've learned.
I was never a strikeout pitcher. Why should I throw eight or nine balls to get a man out when I got away with three or four?
I know I don't throw very hard anymore, but I'd like to think I can still hurt a guy who's not looking.
But I got a guy on third, I was in a jam the other day in a game, all those situations, when you need a strikeout there, in big spots. But we are very aware of that fact, that these guys put the ball in play.
Sometimes you have to accept that a guy played better on the day than you.
I respect every guy that has walked away. I think every single guy in this league makes his own decision, and that's perfectly fine. The reason I respect that and the reason I think every guy has his own way of dealing with things is because, in my personal opinion, I know what I'm getting into.
If your man is a sports enthusiast, you may have to resign yourself to his spouting off in a monotone on a prize fight, football game or pennant race.
As a team, you need to come from behind every once in awhile just to do it. Good for the attitude. It makes it exciting. And when everybody knows you have to throw it... that makes it fun too.
I don't play a regular guy at all - never.
