In 50 years, the world has changed, especially for kids, but kids' needs haven't changed. They still need to feel safe, be close to their families, like their teachers, and have friends to play with.

I think that the only way to teach is by example, as children will more easily follow what they see you do than what you tell them to do.

The worst mistake you can make with children is to talk to them in a condescending, patronising way and think that you can teach them something. You have to understand that it is you who will be learning from them. You have to get into their world and see things from their perspective.

I want kids to know that it is okay to make a change in order to feel better about themselves.

When you have kids, for me, it really changed me. I was always empathetic to other children, but now I'm so much more sensitive to children that aren't my own.

Teachers shape so much of what a kid's upbringing can be.
