So I think I'll say the obvious thing: theater is ephemeral. When a production is done, it's gone forever. You can take pictures of it. You can make a film of it. But it's not the production. It's not the same thing.

A movie and a stage show are two entirely different things. A picture, you can do anything you want. Change it, cut out a scene, put in a scene, take a scene out. They don't do that on stage.

Doing a piece on film is completely different from doing it onstage.

The great thing about stage is that you have more control. The stage is yours. The time is yours. Film is really the editor's medium.
