But the idea of taking things and mixing them together is what I do in my music. I take hip-hop, R&B, pop, dance, funk and soul and mix it all together to get my own sound.

I've always tried to stay clear of being labeled, putting a label on what type of music that I make.

I think my music has always been a mixture, depending on whom I'm working with - what band, what musicians, what producer.

I've always gravitated towards the beats, obviously. And when I was growing up, I always loved funk music or even - dare I say it - disco.

I think it's hard to put a finger on my music. My music has always been an amalgamation of everything I listen to, which includes everything and anything under the sun. Hip-hop to country to R&B to pop, all the things I'm inspired by find a way into what I do.

I'm not so rock and roll. I'm more techno.
