I have to understand how we are going to market the movie. We view marketing as an extension of content creation... Every time a consumer sees our movie, in whatever form, our obligation is to entertain the audience.

There are many examples of very responsible and great films that are being made, but nobody goes to watch them.
We love making movies. We got into the business to make movies. At the end of the day, whether you're doing a low budget film or a big budget film, you want it to do well and you want people to see it. That's the whole point. You want to put some kind of message in it.
The consumer is deciding what they want to see and when and how, and filmmakers are more aware and accepting of the fact that success is not predicated on your movie showing in a traditional theater for a certain amount of time.

Movies are a commercial medium. We don't make movies to impress our friends and critics. It's an expensive medium. We have to gain money from it.
There's a vast difference between marketing a movie and the movie itself. You try to cast as wide and broad a net as possible.
I feel the film companies should pay for proper advertising to see that the movie will sell, instead of putting it on our backs.
