My whole life I've played music for my own personal enjoyment and the idea of it becoming a machine or a business is just horrible.

I just love crafting and shaping sounds. Actually, many of the sounds that I work with start off as organic instruments - guitar, piano, clarinet, etc. But I do love the rigidity of electronic drums.

When I sit behind that electronic drum, it dominates me; there is no innovation in composing music like that.

Come to think of it, the way I play is like a drum machine- very mechanical.

Drums isn't my one thing anymore. I love to produce. I love to make tracks, write tracks, produce tracks, and I can't just sit back as a drummer anymore.

The thing I find frustrating about rock music is, how different can you make an acoustic drum kit sound, an electric guitar and vocals? It's very stuck, whereas with electronic music, new sounds are being created.

For me, one of the downfalls of electronic music is that it can feel a little soulless or robotic.

Drums just always sounded like the most fun part of that good music for me.
