I'm getting bored performing the same songs over and over. Songwriting comes and goes.

My brain never turns off of songwriting. Every conversation, everything I see, I'm just kind of like a sponge and I soak it up.

I'm not like other writers. I'm not hung up on using my own songs. In fact, my sister Bunny always tells me I sing other people's songs better than my own. She says I loosen up and give the songs a different feel.

Songwriting is hard - it's so easy to fall into the same traps. It's not like I wake up and songs flow out of me.

As a songwriter, I feel like, just for inspiration and research purposes, I have to listen to everything.

I'm still learning a lot as a songwriter. I try to write down and make a note of ideas that I cross paths with on a day-to-day basis, whether it be a conversation or something I hear on the radio, seeing a movie, or just thoughts in my head as I'm walking down the street.

I start a lot more songs than I finish, because I realize when I get into them, they're no good. I don't throw them away, I just put them away, store them, get them out of sight.

I do believe that when I'm writing music, I get addicted to the music of the concept of what the outcome of the song is, or the passion behind the lyrics.

I write most songs randomly. They don't always deal with something I've been through but something I think is important to tell.

I listen to music constantly while writing.
